Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary
The Structural Engineer is primarily responsible for designing load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, or roadways. This position performs analysis of building materials for use in construction. Additional consideration for Federal design and design/build experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesFollowing is a general list of tasks falling into the areas of responsibility of the Structural Engineer. It attempts to present a comprehensive, but not complete, listing of potential assignments that may be undertaken.
- Perform structural calculations and design using current codes and standards.
- Develop layouts, drawings, and specifications for structural systems.
- Create sketches and coordinate with Designers/Drafters.
- Research design options and support the lead engineer.
- Review shop drawings and ensure design accuracy.
- Lead smaller projects or serve as project engineer when assigned.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, electrical).
- Use engineering software (AutoCAD, Revit, RAM, etc.) to produce design documents.
- Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and measurements.
- Attend client and internal meetings.
- Support contract administration and documentation.
- Collaborate with construction teams on design-build projects.
- Assist with proposals and business development efforts.
Qualifications:
- Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering (required); M.S.
- License: Registered Professional Engineer in Florida (required)
- Experience: 5+ years in structural engineering; federal project experience
- Certifications: LEED AP BD+C a plus
- Software: Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, RAM, Mathcad, Enercalc, Microsoft Office
