SGI Structural is an engineering consulting company providing design and consulting services to our clients in the residential, commercial, education, and infrastructure sector. Location
This is a hybrid position consisting primarily of work from home with a requirement to visit job sites in the DC metro area a few times a month and work from our Baltimore office on an as needed basis. Working from the office is commonly only needed twice a month. Site visits are needed when the client or builders need them so all applicants will need to be local and able to drive to project sites. Working from home is acceptable when projects or meetings do not require you in person.
Position
Structural Design Engineer. Applicants will be expected to design buildings and components under the direction of a project manager or senior engineer. Coordinating directly with the client to advance the project through design will be expected. Engineers with past experience in the field or in construction are appreciated. SGI does provide training and helps its staff with continued education, mentorship, and study materials for the S.E. and P.E.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with clients and perform or delegate design items.
- Work closely with drafter.
- Visit construction sites and perform CA.
- Manage projects in design and construction.
- Complete structural designs calculations and make recommendations.
- Provide detailed specifications and drawings for proposed solutions.
- Work directly with Principal Engineer to coordinate drawings and meet the project needs.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Civil/Structural engineering required
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- P.E. or S.E.
- Practical construction experience greatly appreciated
- AutoCAD experience required
- REVIT experience required
- Wood design or construction experience required
- Steel and masonry experience is required
- Designs and detailing experience required
- Time management and ability to work independently required
- Local to the DMV
