We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Dynamics Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.
If selected you will:
- Perform finite element model checks, dynamic model reductions, coupled loads analysis, and interpret results
- Perform dynamic analyses using commercial and in-house codes, write new simulation scripts and code, typically with Python, as needed
- Perform vibroacoustic analysis on finite element models in preparation for acoustic and random vibration tests
- Perform modal analysis on finite element models in preparation for modal tests
- Identify critical modes for a component or integrated system
- Review and process modal and structural data (analytical and test)
- Develop and/or review test plans and procedures, documenting test results
- Perform signal processing on analytical and/or test data
- Perform model correlation by adjusting analytical models based on test data to better align the model with actual hardware
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:

- Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Must have excellent oral and written communications skills
- Experience with desktop software applications, MS Office is required
- Experience in finite element model manipulation and coupled loads analysis
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, and/or C/C++
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or C/C++
- Experience using MSC NASTRAN with FEMAP as a pre/post-processor
- Experience or relative coursework in Systems Engineering
- Experience or Proficiency with Component Mode Synthesis and Craig Bampton model reductions
