We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Structural Designer – Residential Projects to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing functional, aesthetically pleasing residential spaces that reflect client needs, lifestyle, and budget. This role involves collaborating with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to bring residential projects from concept to completion

This position requires 40 hours per week in our Minden, NV or Reno, NV offices. (This job is not remote.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create structural designs and construction drawings for residential buildings using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
  •  Design foundations, framing systems, load-bearing walls, and roof structures.
  •  Perform structural calculations to ensure safety, stability, and code compliance.
  •  Collaborate with architects and contractors to integrate structural elements into residential designs.
  •  Review and revise drawings based on client feedback and field conditions.
  •  Ensure all designs meet local zoning laws, building codes, and permit requirements.
  •  Coordinate with city officials and inspectors during the permitting and construction phases.
  •  Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and inspections.
  •  Maintain organized records of design documents, revisions, and approvals.


Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in residential structural design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, Enercalc).
  • Strong understanding of wood framing, concrete foundations, and residential construction practices.
  • Familiarity with IRC (International Residential Code) and local building codes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.


Skills:

  • Experience with custom home design or high-end residential projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient design.
