Senior Structural Project Engineer

We're seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our Cary, NC office. This is a unique opportunity for a licensed PE with a strong technical foundation in bridge design to take on expanded leadership responsibilities — mentoring staff, driving technical excellence, and contributing to the growth of our structural engineering practice.

The Impact You Will Have

  • Lead structural design efforts for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other transportation structures for DOT and municipal clients
  • Prepare and review structural and geometrical calculations, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports for bridge and transportation projects
  • Provide technical oversight, quality control, and complex modeling/analysis for project elements
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to coordinate project development
  • Check and sign off on design calculations, quantities, and plan elements
  • Lead or assist with bridge inspection field efforts (NBIS-certified bridge inspection team leader )
  • Mentor junior staff, helping develop technical skills and internal design standards
  • Support business development through proposal writing, client outreach, and industry networking

What We're Looking For

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • PE License in North Carolina (SE or ability to obtain)
  • Minimum of 8 years of structural design experience, including a proven track record with DOT and public sector clients
  • Proficiency with NCDOT standards, Bentley CAD, and design software; experience with NCDOT WIGINS program a plus
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and DOT requirements
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage design budgets, schedules, and deliverables
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in shaping and growing a structural practice
