About Genesis Engineering Solutions
Genesis Engineering Solutions (GES) is a leading provider of innovative engineering services, specializing in aerospace solutions that meet the industry's most demanding standards. As a small, agile contractor, we pride ourselves on providing "big company" impact with a "small company" feel—where every employee’s contribution is visible and valued.
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Structural Analyst to join our team. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of flight hardware development, from initial concept through design maturation and final delivery. You will join a high-tech team dedicated to unleashing the talents of engineers to solve complex aerospace challenges. You will be an integral part of the development process, performing trade studies, defining load paths, and verifying that every component is sized correctly for strength, stiffness, and mass efficiency.
At Genesis, we don’t work in silos. Our Mechanical Design Engineers and Structural Analysts operate as a unified front to solve the hardest problems in space flight.
- Iterative Innovation: Our designers use state-of-the-art software to "Dream It," while our analysts provide modeling and simulation to prove "How It Works."
- The Feedback Loop: You will participate in a constant back-and-forth where analysis results directly inform CAD updates. This ensures our hardware is optimized for launch and beyond.
- Mission Success: By integrating sizing, mass calculations, and trade studies into the design phase, we deliver high-fidelity solutions that meet stringent NASA and commercial milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Structural Modeling & Simulation: Develop and maintain Finite Element Models (FEM). Verify that models accurately reflect physical behaviors, material properties, and boundary conditions.
- Structural hand calculations: Perform hand calculations using classical analysis theory to assess load paths, implement trade studies, and provide early-stage feedback to the design team.
- Sizing & Optimization: Perform part sizing for strength and stiffness. Execute trade studies on materials, joints, and configurations to optimize fitness, form, and function.
- Load Definition: Define external loads and generate internal load paths. Document free-body diagrams and ensure load paths are clearly understood by the design team.
- Mass Management: Perform mass and Mass Growth Allowance (MGA) analyses. Account for non-structural mass such as adhesives, shims, and coatings.
- Verification & Reporting: Author comprehensive Structural Analysis Reports. Calculate Margins of Safety and perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessments.
- Presentations: Present summary of analysis findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Test Support: Define testing scopes and development activities required to validate analytical assumptions and manufacturing methods.
Required Qualifications
- Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience: 0-5 years’ professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Technical Expertise: Strong fundamental knowledge of classical hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) theory.
- Attention to Detail: Experience following strict customer-defined reporting structures and rigorous documentation standards.
- Communication: Ability to translate complex analytical results into actionable design recommendations for CAD engineers and stakeholders.
- Eligibility: Must be a U.S. (due to government contract requirements)
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency with industry-standard FEA tools (e.g., NASTRAN/PATRAN, FEMAP, or ANSYS).
- Proficiency with engineering CAD software (e.g. Creo, SolidWorks)
- Familiarity with industry analysis and testing standards such as GEVS 7000, NASA-STD-5001, and MMPDS.
