Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary: The Street Maintenance Supervisor oversees the daily operations of street and infrastructure maintenance within the City of Goodwater. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely repair and upkeep of roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, water and sewer line maintenance, park maintenance, and public rights-of-way. The supervisor leads a team of maintenance workers and coordinates with other departments to support public works initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and schedule street maintenance crews and equipment
- Inspect roadways and infrastructure for needed repairs or hazards
- Oversee asphalt and concrete repair, drainage maintenance, street rights-of-way, City Park and amenities, and vegetation control
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and city policies
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with assigned personnel, other departments, and the general public
- Respond to emergency situations such as storm damage or road obstructions
- Assist in budget planning and procurement of supplies and equipment
- Provide training and performance feedback to maintenance staff
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training in public works or construction
- Years of experience in street or public works maintenance, including in a supervisory role
- Valid Alabama driver’s license; CDL
- Strong knowledge of road construction, heavy equipment operation, and safety practices
- Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and work orders
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
Work Environment: This position involves both office and field work, including exposure to varying weather conditions, loud equipment, and physical labor. Respond to public requests for information and assistance; review and take appropriate action on public requests and/or complaints.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
