We’re looking for a Stormwater Lead Engineer to lead project teams, mentor staff, and deliver innovative stormwater solutions. This role is critical to driving technical excellence, managing complex projects, and fostering collaboration across disciplines.

What You’ll Do

As a Stormwater Lead Engineer, you’ll:

  • Lead stormwater design projects, including hydrology, enclosed systems, open channels, roadway drainage, bridge hydraulics, detention/retention, and water quality measures.
  • Oversee technical design, plan production, and QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing guidance on design and plan production.
  • Contribute to proposal development, scope and preparation, and project management.
  • Apply advanced modeling tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, and similar software.
  • Ensure compliance with FEMA, EPA, USACE, and state stormwater regulations.
  • Collaborate across teams to improve workflows and deliver efficient, high-quality solutions.
  • Represent GBA in client meetings and cross-functional discussions, ensuring clarity and alignment.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Biological, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in stormwater system design and project delivery.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Missouri, Kansas, Texas, or Nebraska (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Expertise in stormwater modeling software and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Occasional travel may be required for client meetings or site visits.
