Standardisation Engineer\n\nLocation: 1 day a week in the office - Derby or Manchester\n\nPermanent\n\n£40,000 - £ 60,000 depending on experience.\n\nARM are supporting on an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a Standardisation Engineer to join a pioneering clean energy programme focused on delivering innovative low-carbon power solutions. This role sits within the Standardisation & Standard Parts team, which is responsible for reducing product variation, improving engineering efficiency, and supporting deployment across a complex, highly regulated engineering environment.\n\nYou will play a key role in shaping standardisation strategy across multidisciplinary engineering teams, helping ensure products and components are repeatable, cost-effective, and aligned with programme-wide objectives.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDrive standardisation strategies across components, systems, and plant-wide engineering activities.\nPromote product and process consistency through standard rules, tools, and procedures.\nReview engineering artefacts to identify opportunities to reduce variation and improve repeatability.\nSupport optimisation of engineering workflows, improving efficiency and reducing resource and time requirements.\nContribute to the development and maintenance of standard parts catalogues and associated engineering tools.\nProvide technical guidance and governance relating to standardisation principles and decisions.\nCollaborate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to align design approaches and resolve variation issues.\nSupport integration and consistency across multiple engineering disciplines and delivery partners.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n\nExperience in engineering standardisation, configuration control, product optimisation, or related disciplines.\nBackground in complex engineering environments such as nuclear, energy, aerospace, automotive, defence, rail, or manufacturing.\nStrong understanding of engineering processes, component interfaces, and product lifecycle considerations.\nHeavy mechanical product knowledge. \nAbility to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.\nStrong communication and collaboration abilities.\nMust be a driven individual who is able to take full accountability for delivering set work packages.\n\nExperience Required\n\nMEng Degree or HNC with proven experience in Mechanical Engineering.\nKnowledge of engineering data management systems and standard parts catalogues.\nFamiliarity with regulated industries and quality assurance processes.\nExperience working with suppliers and external engineering partners.\nSix Sigma is desirable but not essential.
