Your Opportunity: Staff Structural Engineer
Join our Transportation Structures team—a passionate, forward-thinking group designing the bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and structures that keep our communities moving. From concept through construction, you’ll help shape infrastructure that serves millions.

What You’ll Do
You’ll take on meaningful, skill-building work from day one, including:
- Designing and drafting structural plans for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and other transportation structures.
- Turning sketches or verbal concepts into accurate, high-quality drawings.
- Running structural analyses using industry-standard software.
- Preparing quantities, cost estimates, and construction-ready deliverables.
- Participating in design meetings with engineers and clients to align on project goals.
- Visiting project sites to understand field conditions and support construction coordination.
- Managing tasks efficiently with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Reviewing your own work—and supporting CADD Technicians—to ensure quality and accuracy.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- EIT certification .
- Proficiency with standard office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Required CADD experience; familiarity with MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer, or OpenRoads Designer .
- Experience with 3D structural modeling is a plus.

Compensation Range
$75,000.00 - $115,900.00
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
