EAD Engineering is looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer that will act as a mechanical subject matter expert delivering high-quality engineering solutions and providing leadership in design, specification, estimating, and project execution for industrial clients. This role also supports business development through proposal preparation and client engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical system design from concept through construction documentation communicating all necessary technical information to installers/ subcontractors adhering to project budgets (both material costs and engineering hours) and schedules.
  • Seek the least (total) cost and most practical solutions to system designs and technical problems considering engineering, material and installation components.
  • Prepare and review specifications, calculations, equipment and piping layouts, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and EAD standards
  • Responsible for quality and delivery of construction documentation including but not limited to specifications, equipment layouts, HVAC design, plumbing design, and piping design.
  • Specify and aid in our clients' procurement of process and mechanical equipment, including but not limited to tanks, pumps, heat exchangers, conveyors, pneumatic conveying systems, dust collection, and HVAC.
  • Develop and design HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for industrial facilities to meet specifications including, but not limited to, throughput, load capacity, size range, and building clearances.
  • Develop CAPEX estimates and complete RFP packages for equipment and services for our clients.
  • Serve as primary mechanical technical contact for clients and project teams.
  • Lead cross-discipline coordination to ensure integrated project outcomes and design integrity
  • Provide field engineering support during installation, commissioning, and startup.
  • Contribute to business development through proposal strategy and technical presentations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers in technical and project delivery skills.
  • Responsible for adhering to all EAD's safety standards and practices.
  • Utilize and develop EAD standard procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.)
  • If no P.E. license, we will bring the applicant in as an Associate Mechanical Engineer with ability to be promoted upon obtaining licensure.
  • 3-6 years of experience in mechanical equipment for industrial and commercial projects
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, vendors, and in-house staff.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Must be proactive in nature, have a good mechanical aptitude, and an ability to work and manage multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Must be able to review complex project requirements and mechanical layouts outlining specific risks, concerns, mitigations, and improvements.
  • Transparent and direct communicator with the ability to identify roadblocks and clear them or escalate to upper management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others subject matter experts to deliver the most optimized solution
  • Working knowledge of mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Computer skills include Windows based operating systems and utilities, AutoCAD and all Microsoft Office Products including Microsoft Outlook. Navisworks, Recap, Point Cloud capabilities a plus.
  • Proficient with Excel spreadsheets including macros.
  • Possess and able to maintain a valid driver's license.

Certifications and skills

  • Experience in mechanical design, engineering process plants, and overall facility design.
  • Food, Parcel, or Life sciences industry experience .
  • Knowledge of building codes and NFPA standards .
  • HVAC, heat transfer, drying processes, utility/piping and/or plumbing systems experience .

Working Conditions:

  • Office, plant, or client site environment*
  • Ability to sit and work at computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to walk up numerous flights of stairs/ladders multiple times a day and/or work in tight spaces in extreme conditions
  • May work near moving mechanical parts and equipment*
  • Office, Commercial and/or Industrial setting with the potential of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals*
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.*
  • Periodic weekend, holiday or evening work as needed
  • Travel required

*EAD will provide training, administrative/engineering controls, and personal protective equipment as necessary.
