We are currently seeking a full-time
Solar Programs – Sector Strategist
to join our Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) Department. As a member of the DERs team, you will assist with driving customer participation in programs that incentivize the adoption of solar renewable energy. Consumer incentive programs are critical in driving our nation’s progress toward a decarbonized grid, and you will play a material role in helping our team make this future a reality. This position will be a part of the Strategy Team supporting our work as the Program Administrator for Illinois Shines. Illinois Shines is the statewide incentive program aimed to assist customers across Illinois to more affordably transition to solar power. To meet Illinois’ goal of having 100% of its energy come from renewable energy sources by 2050, it is imperative that consumers’ rights are protected when working with companies registered with the Program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide Program support, including hosting regular one-on-one check-ins, hosting feedback roundtables and providing program resources to public school and community college decision-makers, solar developers and installers that submit community solar and distributed projects to the Illinois Shines Program
Collect customer and solar developer and installer feedback to help identify program administration improvement opportunities and additional training and education needs
Regularly collect and analyze solar market trends to determine program impacts and present findings and recommendations to the client as applicable to the public schools’ category
Partner with internal stakeholders and other team members to identify process improvement opportunities
Lead project implementation of training, feedback or other support initiatives as needed
A minimum of 8 years of work experience
or
A minimum of 5 years of work experience and a graduate degree
Small Distributed solar market knowledge and experience.
Knowledge of solar incentive programs, and the Illinois Shines Program in particular, a plus.
Flexibility and adaptability in project focus
Demonstrated ability to conduct quantitative solar market reporting and analysis
Strong organizational and project management skills. Formal project management training and/or certification a plus.
Demonstrated ability to interact knowledgeably and professionally with school administration, solar developers or installers, and to serve as the primary point of contact on public school projects
Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
Extensive experience using Microsoft Office. Familiarity with Slack, Salesforce and/or SharePoint a plus.
Ability to work and thrive independently
Excellent personal accountability and quality control practices
Willingness to conduct occasional business travel in the state of IL, including the Energy Solutions’ Chicago office (up to 30% estimated travel)
Compensation to commensurate with experience with the pay band of $92,000 - $125,000/Annually
Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Office Locations and a Remote Workforce
Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in six different locations . Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team.
