Job Description

Palo Alto Networks® SaaS Security team is looking for a seasoned and accomplished Senior Software Engineer to help scale out our security platform with a sharp focus on platform and infrastructure capabilities. As a member of the team, you have the unique opportunity to:

• Be part of a world-class software engineering team that works on various ground-breaking cloud security service offerings
• Lead initiatives in the platform team to deliver security as a service in the public cloud by providing highly scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant solutions
• Work across multiple engineering teams to define an ideal solution for our customers and help resolve customer pain points

This role is located at our dynamic Santa Clara California headquarters campus.

Your Impact

• Build out world class Shadow IT security platform, influencing critical decisions on technology, architecture, integration, and reusability
• Influence and architect cloud , distributed computing system design, data ingestion pipelines and data storage solutions
• Work cross-functionally with Product Management, SRE, Software, and Quality Engineering teams to deliver new security as a service offerings to the market in a timely fashion with excellent quality
• Participate in all phases of the product development cycle, including requirement analysis, design, development, test, release and support
• Foster software development best practices to deliver clean, testable, maintainable, readable and scalable code
• Work closely with customer support teams to improve end-customer outcomes
• Identify innovative patentable solutions for complex problems to influence thought leadership within the organization

Qualifications

Your Experience 

• Industry experience building scalable web applications
• Proficiency in Front-End technologies: React (hooks, Redux, component architecture)
• Strong Back-End development experience in one or more of the following: Java, Python
• Solid understanding of modern software architecture, microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code solutions like Terraform
• Familiar with AI-based technologies (e.g., LLM integration, ML model APIs, vector databases) and AI-based productivity tools (e.g., Claude Code, ChatGPT)
• Bachelor's + 4 years or Master's + 2 yrs experience building scalable web applications
• Education : M.S./B.S. degree in Engineering, Data Science or equivalent experience in a related field or equivalent military experience required

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $0 - $0/YR.
