Our client, a leading manufacturer with advanced, high-volume automated production systems, is hiring a Sr. Staff Automation & Controls Engineer to oversee automation strategy, manage technical teams, and drive innovation in controls design. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Easton, PA, with opportunities to lead complex capital projects and shape the future of manufacturing automation.

Approximately 10% travel for projects and training

Lead a team of engineers and technicians in automation and controls

Key focus on Rockwell automation platforms, robotics, motion control, and industrial networking

Must be available to support manufacturing equipment troubleshooting during off-hours
Responsibilities:

Oversee automation-focused projects from feasibility to commissioning
-
Lead, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for technical staff

Manage capital projects including justification, planning, programming, testing, and commissioning

Develop and enforce machine-safety control standards in compliance with industry regulations

Provide advanced troubleshooting and process optimization support across all manufacturing lines

Guide the design and maintenance of industrial communication networks and control protocols

Oversee machine qualification at suppliers and in-house

Maintain thorough documentation of all machine software and revisions to prevent downtime
-
Coordinate contractors and ensure adherence to specifications and timelines
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Advanced degree )

10+ years manufacturing support experience in electrical, electronic, and industrial controls (including PLC debugging)

7+ years direct management experience of technical teams

Proficiency in Rockwell Studio5000, RSLogix500, FactoryTalk, and Kinetix motion control systems

Experience with industrial/collaborative robotics specification and installation

Strong knowledge of NEC/NFPA codes, electrical safety, and industrial power distribution

Familiarity with control networks (DeviceNet, ControlNet, Remote IO, Data Highway Plus, Ethernet)

Working knowledge of AutoCAD electrical schematic design

Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

Willingness to respond to off-hours manufacturing support needs
