Sr. Software Engineering Manager, AI & Platform Modernization in Glenview

Job Description

Our client is looking for a hands-on engineering leader to guide the modernization of legacy applications into AI-ready enterprise platforms. This role blends team leadership with active technical work: you will manage a small group of engineers, shape platform architecture, and turn the organization's AI strategy into a practical roadmap that delivers scalable, reliable systems.

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead and develop a full-stack team of employees and contractors, setting engineering standards, practices, and priorities

\n

• Own application architecture and technology choices, lead design and code reviews, and work through complex technical problems

\n

• Mentor developers through hands-on example, building prototypes and proofs of concept that establish patterns for the team to scale

\n

• Work with business analysts to deliver secure, maintainable, production-ready solutions

\n

• Translate enterprise AI strategy into platform roadmaps, and define the AI/ML and agentic operations approach, including tooling and standards

\n

• Collaborate with data, security, and infrastructure teams on end-to-end AI architecture covering compute, model lifecycle, and deployment

\n

• Lead build-vs.-buy decisions, platform and tool evaluations, and cost/performance tradeoffs

\n

• Design and scale cloud infrastructure on Azure and Snowflake, balancing near-term needs with long-term growth

Experience

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience

\n

• 5+ years of software development and architecture experience on production applications

\n

• Track record of leading, mentoring, and setting technical direction for engineering teams, including across distributed groups

\n

• Strong skills in Python, React, TypeScript, C#, .NET/ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, and SQL and/or PostgreSQL

\n

• Solid grasp of architecture, security, CI/CD, scalability, and observability

\n

• Knowledge of AI/ML ecosystems and of designing MLOps and AIOps frameworks at enterprise scale

\n

• Comfort working through ambiguity and presenting technical ideas clearly to senior and executive (VP/SVP) audiences
