Job Description Summary
In this role, you will work closely with a team of 8-15 people who are responsible for enhancing, evolving, and supporting a large on‑premise highly‑available Electricity Market Management System (MMS). The team includes power systems, database, software, and optimisation engineers. As a Senior Electricity Market Optimisation Software Engineer, you will contribute to and lead advanced Power Systems Application software design, development, testing, integration and tuning to meet project and/or product commitments. The projects mainly consist of developing power system features for Electric Utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Transmission System Operators (TSOs).
Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Define, develop, and evolve software in a fast‑paced, agile development environment using the latest technologies and infrastructure.
Provide domain knowledge and/or technical leadership to a team of electricity markets application software engineers.
Lead and contribute to electricity market application development and ensure software delivery is on schedule, within budget, and meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Write documents such as design notes, testing procedures, and other project artefacts.
Provide budgetary estimates for new project tasks to project leads and managers, and work with customers throughout the project life cycle to ensure the software meets quality standards and functional requirements.
Mentor junior team members.
Interact with Product Development Team, Customers, Solution Providers (Partners / Integrators), and other cross‑functional teams as required.
Apply SDLC principles and methodologies such as Lean, Agile, XP, CI, security, scalability, documentation practices, refactoring and testing techniques.
Be willing to travel 10–20% of the time.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with thesis or related work in power systems, or in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Electricity Markets, Security‑Constrained Unit Commitment, and Economic Dispatch using Mixed‑Integer Programming (MIP), or Power System Analysis applications (must have at least one component in this section).
Desired Characteristics
PhD in Electrical Engineering or related work in power systems, plus at least one year of experience in development or project delivery in the Electricity Market field.

Strong understanding of Mixed‑Integer Programming (MIP).

Compensation ranges between $109,100.00 and $181,800.00 for candidates based in the Bellevue, WA market; other compensation will be reviewed upon candidate selection for other markets and remote work. Bonus eligibility is discretionary.
