Sr. Site Reliability Engineer, Energy Software

This position can be based in Palo Alto, CA or Austin, TX.

Tesla is seeking Engineers to build, improve, and scale the infrastructure that powers our Energy IoT applications. These applications provide real-time monitoring, optimization, and control for our flagship Tesla Energy products: Powerwall, Megapack, Solar Roof, Supercharger, Autobidder, and Virtual Power Plants.

We are a small yet highly effective team that values learning, mentorship, open discourse, and making disciplined decisions by weighing tradeoffs. Our work impacts dozens of engineers and millions of customers. You must enjoy thinking in systems and working on challenges related to the availability, reliability, scalability, and security of distributed software systems. In this role, you will be primarily using and gaining experience in Linux, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Prometheus, GitHub Actions, PostgreSQL, Kafka, InfluxDB, Scala, and Rust.

What You’ll Do

Deep investigations into new technologies and unexpected issues that arise during operation

Advisement on system architecture and security

Envisioning and enacting changes that improve development time

Proficiency in reading, digesting, and reviewing code

Ability to distill complicated topics such that all engineers can digest

Library development for use by dozens of engineers

Provide technical leadership, foster collaboration, and drive initiatives to completion

Maintain the values of the team which include engineering excellence, curiosity, a bias for action, self-awareness, inclusivity, and vulnerability

What You’ll Bring

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
