Senior Quality Engineer - DOD/Aerospace/Defense
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Engineer to join our growing Quality team. This position is critical in ensuring that our products meet the highest quality standards and comply with industry regulations, particularly in the aerospace sector, and will provide quality interface and expertise within the business unit, establish and maintain quality management systems (ISO-9001 and AS9100D).
In this role you will work to provide manufacturing support, will work to champion inspection and testing efforts, and lead metrology methodologies as a Senior Quality Liaison with suppliers and ensure applicable QMS, certifications, practices
Alongside current engineering and Quality leadership, this Senior Engineer will lead quality assurance initiatives, drive process improvements, and conduct thorough inspections and audits to uphold our commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with aerospace and DoD standards.
- Conduct Failure Analysis and Root Cause Analysis to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Perform testing and inspections to validate compliance with quality specifications and standards.
- Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems in accordance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102 standards.
- Facilitate Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes for non-conformance and quality incidents.
- Conduct internal and external audits to assess compliance with quality standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to drive process improvements using Six Sigma methodologies.
- Oversee the Material Review Board process, ensuring that material discrepancies are reviewed and resolved effectively.
- Manage First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and documentation to ensure initial production quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the aerospace sector.
- Strong knowledge of quality standards including ISO 9001, AS9100, and DCMA regulations.
- Experience with Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
- Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Hands-on experience with quality systems implementation and internal/external auditing.
- Familiarity with Government Source Inspection (GSI) processes.
- Certification in Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies is a plus.
We are seeking those with 5-10+ years of experience in:
- Quality Systems implementation and management
- Experience in an ISO9001/AS9100 or other regulated industry environment
- Experience supporting ISO9001/AS9100 QMS audit preparation, direct participation, and processing audit results.
- Direct work history/experience in a manufacturing environment
