Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the development and transition of new process technology and equipment into production within the Engineering Department. It focuses on generic improvement to achieve targeted goals for the four key measures of quality, productivity, cycle time, and delivery; functions as technical liaison between selected manufacturing departments, engineering, and directly supervises another project engineer in support of Howmet Corporation.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Implements generic engineering and/or equipment changes that have a significant and favorable impact on the four key measurements. Leads process refinement activities geared to improve measurements.
  • Provides technical support to part engineers and assists them with process development by supplying generic experimentation or computer modeling.
  • Supervises another Project Engineer. Prioritizes and delegates work assignments, oversees performance, and provides technical support as appropriate.
  • Applies and promotes TQM concepts and IPM methodology. Participates in TQM and IPM activities assigned for casting areas.
  • Evaluates materials, equipment, and processes for agreement with proceedings for corporate standardization.
  • Coordinates the transfer of technology from Howmet Research Center to facility.
  • Facilitates scientific problems solving in a selected manufacturing area successfully achieving beneficial resolution.
  • Acts as facilitator for mold improvement team.
  • Performs liaison with other Howmet facilities for the purpose of technology exchange.
  • Participates in preparation of budgets and long-range planning with input in regard to capital planning and plant modernization.
  • Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not limited to, regular attendance and occasional overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Effectively write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Presents information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Applies advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Solves practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical area from an accredited institution.
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Qualifications:

  • At least two years of related technical experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
