Sr. Process Controls Engineer
Position Overview — Elevate8 Consultants
At Elevate8 Consultants, we partner with clients to strengthen operational excellence, enhance system reliability, and elevate workforce capability. This role supports our clients by providing deep technical expertise in industrial automation, process control, and operational readiness across complex processing environments.
Core Accountabilities
Operational Readiness
- Deliver operational insights into control system design, standards, and architecture to ensure long-term reliability, maintainability, and cybersecurity alignment.
Design & Technical Review
- Evaluate PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies, and HMI standards with a focus on usability, operability, and human‐centered design.
Commissioning & Startup Support
- Participate in and witness FAT/SAT activities, validate system operability, and support defect resolution throughout commissioning and early operations.
Control System Maintenance
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human‐Machine Interfaces (HMI) to ensure stable and efficient plant performance.
Process Optimization
- Monitor and refine control strategies, perform loop tuning, and enhance alarm management to drive throughput, recovery, and operational stability.
Safety & Compliance
- Support execution of site safety programs, contribute to health and environmental standards, and ensure all automation systems meet statutory and governance requirements.
Technical Governance
- Oversee system backups, patching, cybersecurity protocols, and lifecycle management while serving as the site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for automation platforms.
People Leadership
- Mentor technicians and junior engineers, fostering technical growth, operational discipline, and cross‐functional collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications & Education
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical/Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Control Systems Engineering.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of operational experience in process control or industrial automation within mining, minerals processing, or heavy industry.
Technical Competencies
- Proven hands‐on experience supporting industrial control systems in active operating environments.
- Strong ability to interpret P&IDs, control narratives, electrical schematics, and network architecture diagrams.
- Proficiency with DCS platforms and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
- Valid driver’s license required.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or advanced certifications in Process Control, Automation, or Cybersecurity.
- Direct experience supporting Copper/Molybdenum (Cu/Mo) concentrators and leaching operations.
- Background in Advanced Process Control (APC), including MPC, fuzzy logic, or adaptive control.
- Experience leading commissioning activities and large‐scale OT system deployments.
