Senior Mechanical Estimator

Westminster/Denver, CO (Johnstown or Denver Office)

$110,000 – $135,000 DOE

About the Role:

Reliance One is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our client’s team in Colorado. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Estimating Group to deliver complete proposal packages for client turnover. You’ll be responsible for estimating industrial construction projects up to $25M in size and scope, while guiding junior estimators, collaborating with subcontractors, and ensuring proposals are accurate, competitive, and executable.

What You’ll Do:

• Estimate projects up to $25M, factoring in complexity and self-performance work.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and review all bid documents, including drawings, scopes, contracts, and project specifications.
• Draft pre-estimate checklists and opportunity matrices.
• Perform and review quantity take-offs, entering data into estimating software.
• Assign labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor costs to project estimates.
• Support junior estimators and collaborate with vendors/subcontractors (expectation: 3 estimates per trade or material).
• Prepare RFIs and address questions throughout the bid process.
• Generate cashflow tables, project risk analyses, contingencies, schedules, and resource loading reports.
• Compile exceptions, clarifications, and submittals required by RFQs.
• Lead bid review meetings and project turnover meetings.
• Ensure all bid information is filed, organized, and transferred seamlessly to operations.
• Apply pragmatic analysis to ensure estimates align with efficient project execution.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial construction estimating.
• Familiarity with industrial construction methods.
• Scheduling experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Project).

Preferred Skills:

• Direct experience in civil, concrete, structural steel, equipment setting, and mechanical construction.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid or similar estimating software.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Job or similar project controls software.
