Position Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design, development, and optimization of load banks and related products as part of a project team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that engineering solutions are innovative, efficient, and reliable, and most of all, safe. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional team members to deliver high-quality, innovative products on schedule and on budget. They will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance to enhance team capabilities. Ultimately, this position drives the advancement of mechanical engineering initiatives that support the company’s industry leadership position and customer satisfaction.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze mechanical components and systems using CAD and simulation tools to ensure functionality, durability, and manufacturability.
  • Lead project engineering efforts from concept through production, including defining specifications, conducting feasibility studies, and managing design reviews.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical, software, and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation including design calculations, test plans, and validation reports to comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete seismic, wind and vibration calculations to support equipment design to IBC and specific customer requirements.
  • Understanding of air flow, thermodynamics and sound level dynamics including measurement and instrumentation.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
  • Ensure that projects are completed in a cost-effective manner and within budget as well as in the required time frame.
  • May work with Product Management to develop product road map
  • May be required to make customer on-site visits to ensure that the product is being developed to meet user, safety and quality requirements.
  • Actively identifies ways to improve productivity and safety.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned


Education, Skills and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline. Masters degree is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools is essential for daily tasks such as modeling, stress analysis, and thermal evaluations, ensuring designs are optimized before prototyping.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong team player

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years within electro-mechanical design or electrical construction engineering
  • Experience with engineering analysis tools such as FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and thermal analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as UL, CSA, NEC, ASME, etc to ensure compliance to industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus
