Job Responsibilities
Essential job duties and responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the business.
- Lead and oversee the site quality and food safety programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory, customer, site and corporate standards (SQF, FDA 21 CFR 117, USDA, state, and local).
- Develop and execute quality strategies tailored to bar manufacturing, including in-process control plans for bar weight, dimension, moisture, metal detection, seal integrity, and allergen segregation.
- Manage and continuously improve the site's HACCP, GMP, sanitation, and environmental monitoring programs, with a focus on high-risk areas in open bar production.
- Provide oversight of non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and CAPA execution, especially for common food bar and ingredient issues,
- Partner with Operations to drive quality culture and ensure new product introductions, reformulations, and scale-ups are executed with quality built in.
- Manage internal and external audits, including regulatory inspections, customer audits, and third-party certification bodies.
- Supervises Quality staff. Responsibilities may encompass training, planning, assigning and directing work, performance appraisals, time and attendance bi-weekly review, disciplinaries and problem solving among other supervisory duties.
- Develop product, ingredient and component specifications to document current standards and propose quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.
- Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
- Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability.
- Investigate customer complaints regarding quality and food safety and prepare reports.
- Maintain the quality manual.
- Institute and oversee preventive controls.
- Prepare sample submission packages for testing.
- Oversee the sampling, retention and testing program.
- Troubleshoot on production floor to eliminate food safety hazards.
- Eliminate/minimize deviations from specifications and prepare deviation or OOS reports.
- Responsible for material release.
- Issues written and oral instructions in the form of BPP or SOPs.
- Conduct accident investigations and draft incident reports.
- Oversee plant sanitation.
- Monitor the SQF Plan and be the facility SQF Practitioner.
- Monitor GFCO requirements and act as the point person for contact with GFCO and other certifying bodies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- BA in Science. Food Science, Biology and similar backgrounds .
- Minimum 7 years of related experience in Quality Systems required.
- Experience working is a quality position within a food and nutrition bar manufacturing site.
- Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & CFR 117 required.
- Experience with GFSI audits strongly .
- Experience or familiarity with organic, kosher, gluten-free regulations .
Skill Requirements & Certifications:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) plant safety and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to read, speak and write in English.
- Proven success with working in a team environment.
- May work weekends as needed.

Salary Range
Starting salary is dependent on factors such as work experience, education, location, skill sets, market demand, and company budget.
$91,319 - $139,750 DOE
