We are partnering with an innovative, fast-paced energy technology organization to find a single, dedicated owner for the front half of their electrode manufacturing line. If you are a process-driven specialist who thrives in an agile startup R&D environment and wants to dial in parameters to build the perfect electrode, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities (What You'll Own)

• Slurry Formulation & Prep: Build cathode slurries (NMP, DMF, DMSO) across shear, planetary, vacuum, and high-speed disperser platforms. Dial in rheology, tune binder packages, and produce CNT/GO dispersions from scratch.
• Tape Casting & Drying: Cast on lab-scale doctor-blade setups and our R2R slot-die coater. Manage web tension, line speed, and multi-zone drying to reliably produce thick, high-loading cathodes (>7.5 mAh/cm2) while diagnosing defects.
• Tape Calendering & Stamping: Calender cast electrodes to high target densities (>3.5 g/mL) without compromising tape integrity, then slit and die-cut parts to flawless, repeatable tolerances.
• Continuous Improvement: Run at least two casts per week, tightening existing SOPs while executing exploratory R&D recipes in parallel.
• Live Documentation: Maintain clear run sheets and narrate runs nearly live via digital collaboration tools so that casting operations are never dependent on a single point of failure.

What You Bring

• The Core: 5+ years of hands-on experience in Li-ion or Li-metal electrode fabrication, specifically owning the process from slurry prep through finished electrode.
• Coating Expertise: Proven R2R casting experience across multiple instruments, with slot-die experience required. Must have a track record of troubleshooting defects and coating single-side loadings >7.5 mAh/cm2.
• Advanced Processing: Direct experience with high-density calendering (>3.5 g/mL), precision slitting/die-cutting, and hands-on CNT/GO dispersion formulation.
• Startup Mindset: Comfort in a dynamic R&D environment where equipment and processes evolve quickly; ability to balance production with exploratory recipes.
• Communication: Willingness to document and stream run progress live to the team as it happens.

Nice to Have

• Experience with dry casting or solvent-free electrode methodologies.
• Background in electrode characterization (SEM, EIS, thickness/loading mapping, sheet-resistance screening).
• Familiarity with multiple cathode chemistries and binder/solvent systems.
