Responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components covering the breadth of the product offering. This role involves supporting projects from concept through product launch, providing technical expertise, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality and innovative solutions that meet project requirements.Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical system solutions based on engineering principles and methodology and ensure they meet project requirements.
- Manage conceptual design layout, concept validation, prototyping, testing, manufacturability, performance characterization, and a critical review of new product development projects.
- Support continuous improvement projects by creating technical solutions or redesigning products, improving quality and productivity while reducing costs and looking for design improvement opportunities wherever possible.
- Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations, analysis, simulation, and testing supporting design and translate to a practical and functional solution.
- Concisely communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers alike, both internally and externally.
- Act as a technical resource for support of customers, service technicians, and sales alike addressing and resolving questions and problems.
- Create accurate documentation to support the NPD process including DVP&R, BOM, Routing, 3D drawings, and instruction manuals ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of processes and methods.
- Ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
- Make engineering changes as necessary and document the amendments accordingly.
Qualifications
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering; MS degree .
- 5+ years related job experience or equivalent educational experience.
- Must possess a high level of mechanical engineering aptitude including a broad knowledge of engineering materials and an understanding of related manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Creo ) but other engineering analysis tools acceptable.
- Familiar with six-sigma techniques, e.g., design for manufacturability/reliability (DFx), SPC, GR&R.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Working knowledge of MRP is desirable.
- Travel within the US and internationally to support projects (10-20%).
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems with innovative solutions; strong project management skills.
- High level of attention to detail, ensuring precision and accuracy in designs.
- Strong written and presentation communication skills.
- Strong work ethic complemented by a positive, can-do attitude.
