Evans is hiring a Sr. Data Scientist resource to support a contract for personnel and readiness employing significant and complex military or defense-related systems that are developed, managed, and/or utilized by the United States Department of Defense (DoD). These systems may be large-scale projects involving advanced technologies and substantial investments. They can include various components such as security systems, communication systems, surveillance systems, or other capabilities aimed at enhancing security and military readiness and effectiveness.
The Sr. Data Scientist leads the development of advanced analytics solutions to solve complex business and operational challenges. This role involves designing and deploying machine learning models, conducting statistical analyses, and transforming data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy predictive models, machine learning algorithms, and statistical analyses.
- Translate business problems into data science solutions and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Lead data exploration, feature engineering, and model validation efforts.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and domain experts to ensure data quality and accessibility.
- Present insights and recommendations through dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Stay current with emerging tools, techniques, and best practices in data science and AI.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and ethical standards.
Requirements:
- Prior DoD and/or military experience is highly .
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (Ph.D. ).
- 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming .
- Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Plotly).

Compensation
Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Evans’s total compensation package for employees.
