Overview
The Senior Controls Engineer is responsible for leading the design, programming, testing, and support of industrial control systems used in automated machinery. This role works closely with mechanical, electrical, and service teams to ensure equipment operates reliably, efficiently, and according to customer expectations. The position includes a blend of engineering design, hands?on troubleshooting, and project support both in?house and at customer sites when required.Key Responsibilities
Engineering & System Design
- Design and implement PLC?based control systems for automated industrial equipment.
- Update and review wiring diagrams, schematics, panel layouts, and related technical documentation.
- Program and optimize PLC, HMI, motion, and drive systems (Allen Bradley required; Siemens ).
- Integrate sensors, drives, and control components into complete machine systems.
Project Leadership
- Lead controls engineering work for new machine builds and major upgrades.
- Support installation and commissioning activities both on-site and at customer facilities.
- Develop project documentation, timelines, and control standards.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Testing, Troubleshooting & Support
- Conduct system testing, I/O checks, diagnostics, and tuning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with control systems on production?scale machinery.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality and safety requirements.
Cross?Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with customers, field service teams, and internal engineering groups to clarify requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Prepare and maintain clear documentation and technical reports.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 7–10+ years of experience in controls engineering, automation, or industrial machinery.
- Strong proficiency with Allen Bradley PLC programming and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Ability to manage projects from concept through commissioning.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem?solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
- Experience with Siemens automation platforms.
- Background in web handling, winding, continuous processing, or similar machinery.
- Relevant technical certifications are a plus.

Pay Details: $110,000.00 to $135,000.00 per year
