Reporting directly to the VP of IT, this role will serve as the hands-on operational lead for cloud infrastructure and enterprise technology environment.

This is a highly technical leadership role combining AWS infrastructure ownership, Tier 3 escalation support, AI product rollout leadership, vendor management, and cloud financial oversight. The successful candidate will be both a strategic thought partner and an active technical contributor in a fast-paced, innovation-driven life sciences environment.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Infrastructure Operations

• Own day-to-day AWS infrastructure operations, ensuring stability, uptime, and cost efficiency

• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for cloud and infrastructure escalations

• Lead application modernization efforts within AWS

• Partner with external AWS vendors to support proof-of-concept initiatives and operational improvements

• Oversee implementation of observability tools such as Datadog

Enterprise Systems Administration

• Provide Tier 3 support and serve as escalation point for O365, SSO, JumpCloud, networking, and endpoint security tools

• Manage and support CrowdStrike, Arctic Wolf, Ignite, and related security platforms

• Maintain overall enterprise systems stability and performance

AI & Innovation Enablement

• Oversee rollout of Generative AI capabilities across the organization

• Act as a catalyst for identifying and supporting additional AI use cases across scientific and business teams

• Partner with leadership on AI governance and operational enablement

Financial & Vendor Management

• Oversee AWS financial operations and cloud cost optimization

• Manage vendor relationships

• Support budget planning and forecasting for IT operations

• Evaluate and manage outsourcing relationships where applicable

Project & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with internal colleagues to lead infrastructure and systems projects

• Support implementation of observability and modernization initiatives

• Coordinate closely with Enterprise Architecture and Cybersecurity leadership

Team Structure

• Reports directly to the VP of IT

• Works closely with Enterprise Architecture and Security leadership

• Acts as Lead technical escalation layer across infrastructure and cloud

• May operate as a lead Manager or Associate Director level depending on experience

Time Allocation (Approximate)

• 50% AWS and infrastructure system administration

• 15% Agile/Scrum and project coordination (Jira)

• 15% Tier 3 escalation support

• 10% Budgeting and vendor management

• 10% Strategic initiatives including AI rollout

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
