Engagement Duration: 3-month initial term
Compensation: $160k–$180k annually (full-time)
Overview
Automated Industries is seeking a Sr. Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to serve as a Principal-level consultant and hands-on infrastructure leader. You will own the design, deployment, and operation of their cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, dotline-manage a team of 3 offshore DevOps engineers, and drive operational excellence alongside the internal engineering team of one of our clients based in New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Ownership & Leadership
- Design and implement scalable, production-grade cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP
- Establish infrastructure standards, best practices, and runbooks for the organization
- Serve as the technical authority on cloud architecture decisions and trade-offs
- Mentor and manage 3 offshore DevOps engineers; provide technical direction and career guidance
- Oversee platform-layer design, complex builds, and engineering standards
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal engineers and PM to align infrastructure roadmap
- Work closely with engineering leadership to support product and AI/ML workloads
- Manage consultant resources and external partnerships
- Drive knowledge transfer and upskilling of internal teams
Operational Excellence
- Establish CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and monitoring/observability frameworks
- Implement security best practices, compliance controls, and disaster recovery procedures
- Optimize cloud costs and resource utilization across multi-cloud environments
- Lead incident response and post-mortems; drive continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of infrastructure engineering or DevOps experience
- Principal or Staff Engineer level technical depth: AWS and GCP expertise (IAM, compute, storage, networking, databases)
- Team leadership experience: Managing engineers (direct reports or mentoring at scale)
- Production systems ownership: Design, scaling, resilience, and operational oversight
- Multi-cloud architecture: Comfortable operating across AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments
- Automation mindset: Infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, scripting (Python, Bash, Terraform, etc.)
- Communication: Clear articulation of technical trade-offs and architectural decisions to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications
- Experience managing offshore/distributed teams
- Background in AI/ML infrastructure or ML Ops
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and microservices
- Experience in fast-growth, high-velocity engineering environments
- AWS Solutions Architect or Google Cloud Professional certifications
Work Environment
- On-site: 3 days/week (Tue–Thu)
- Remote: 2 days/week

Compensation & Terms
- Base: $160k–$180k annually (commensurate with experience and engagement structure)
- Engagement: 3-month initial term with potential for extension pending performance
