Job Description

As a Sr Advanced Chemical Engineer at Honeywell, you will be a key member of our Energy & Sustainability Solutions (ESS) team based in Metropolis. You will leverage your knowledge of chemical process engineering fundamentals to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer and site needs. Collaborating with renowned engineers, you will impact groundbreaking projects and expand existing processes.

Your role will focus on optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring high product quality, and minimizing environmental impact. Your expertise in troubleshooting, implementing advanced technologies, and data analysis will lead to increased efficiency, cost savings, and regulatory compliance.

The annual base salary range is $118,000 - $147,000, with actual offers based on experience, education, skills, and market conditions.

No Visa Sponsorship Offered. Onsite role in Metropolis, IL.

Key Responsibilities

Work in a highly regulated nuclear facility responsible for UF6 production, the only site in the US producing this product.

Lead Pressure Relief Device System revalidation for approximately 300 systems.

Support Pre-FEED and FEED development, including process scope and design solutions for growth, cost savings, and HSE projects.

Develop process models, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, layouts, basic control schemes, and equipment specifications.

Identify and mitigate technical and process safety risks during design phases.

Provide on-site technical support during construction, commissioning, startup, and plant trials.

Evaluate process alternatives and justify improvements through economic analysis.

Develop expertise in process chemistry and unit operations for scale-up from laboratory and pilot data to commercial design.

Collaborate with operations to implement productivity projects, utilizing engineering techniques to optimize manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics from an accredited institution.

6+ years of Process Engineering experience in chemical or nuclear manufacturing.

6+ years of Front End Loading (FEL) experience.

3+ years of extensive sizing and design experience with Pressure Relief Device Systems.

Strong knowledge of chemical processes and equipment.

Experience in process optimization and improvement.

Valued

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related field.

Experience with large capital projects ($10M-$100M) in process design & start-up.

Experience with process simulation software (ASPEN, HTRI, PIPE-FLO).

Knowledge of RAGAGEP standards.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to focus on key information and details.
