Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSenior Applications Engineer - Dillon, South Carolina Arclin Inc is currently looking for a Senior Applications Engineer for our Dillon, SC location, reporting to the Senior Product Development and Applications Manager.

The Senior Applications Engineer will serve as the technical owner for products produced on a newly installed treater, ensuring successful transition from production to customer application. This role is responsible for managing product performance, supporting commercialization efforts, and designing, equipping, and maintaining an applications laboratory to evaluate, test, and optimize treated products. The position requires close collaboration with operations, R&D and sales to ensure products meet performance, quality, and application requirements. Ensuring the maintenance of a safe, clean and well-organized laboratory workspace, this employee will conform to all Arclin policies, procedures and applicable HSE and OSHA rules and regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct & Process Ownership

  • Serve as the primary technical expert for products coming off the newly installed treater.
  • Support commissioning, startup, and optimization of the treater in collaboration with operations and engineering teams.
  • Monitor and analyze treated product performance, identifying opportunities for improvement in consistency, quality, and application behavior.
  • Develop and maintain product specifications, technical data sheets, and application guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot product, process, and application issues, as needed.

Applications Laboratory Development & Management

  • Design, outfit, and commission a fully functional applications lab to support product evaluation and development.
  • Specify, procure, install, and maintain lab equipment, instrumentation, and testing tools relevant to treated products.
  • Validate laboratory test methods correlate with customer applications and field performance.
  • Establish lab procedures, safety protocols, calibration schedules, and maintenance plans.
  • Ensure lab operations comply with company safety standards and applicable regulations.

Technical Support

  • Provide advanced technical support to operations and sales regarding product application and performance.
  • Conduct lab trials and application testing to support customer qualifications and new product introductions.
  • Prepare technical reports, data summaries, and presentations for internal teams and external customers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, R&D, and sales teams to align product capabilities with market needs.
  • Support new product development and scale-up activities related to the treater and downstream applications.
  • Provide technical input into process improvements, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers or technicians supporting lab or applications work, as applicable.

QualificationsRequired

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, process engineering, technical service, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial processing equipment and translating process conditions into product performance.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or operating an applications or testing laboratory.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with surface treatment, coatings, polymers, metals, textiles, or similar treated products (adjust to your industry).
  • Experience supporting new equipment installations or process startups.
  • Familiarity with lab safety standards, quality systems, and test method development.
  • Project management experience related to lab buildout or capital equipment.
