Sr. Advanced Electrical Engineer - Controls & Test Automation in Phoenix

Job DescriptionJob Description

We are looking for a Senior Advanced Electrical Engineer with strong experience in PLC programming, LabVIEW, and automated test systems. This role is ideal for someone who can independently architect and develop controls systems, write PLC programs from scratch, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and test PLC programs for new and existing equipment.
• Write and develop PLC code from scratch using function blocks, Add-On Instructions, and structured programming practices.
• Define controls system requirements and develop detailed functional specifications.
• Develop, maintain, and modify LabVIEW-based test and control systems.
• Lead implementation and testing of new control and test systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC code, electrical systems, mechanical systems, sensors, and test equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and implement solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of PLC programming experience across multiple hardware platforms.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley, Emerson, and/or Phoenix Contact .
• Demonstrated ability to architect and write PLC programs from scratch.
• Experience using function blocks or Add-On Instructions with an object-oriented programming approach.
• 6+ years of LabVIEW experience.
• Experience with NI VeriStand, Python, and .NET.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a cross-functional environment.
• Must be a U.S. due to contractual requirements.

Experience

• Git or Teamcenter
• SQL and database development
• DAQs, sensors, oscilloscopes, multimeters, pressure scanners, and other test equipment
• DEWEsoft or similar data acquisition/test systems
• Experience developing automated test systems
• Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring junior engineers
