Position Summary:
ISI is seeking a highly capable Space Planner/Project Manager IV to provide space planning and project management services to support the Space Portfolio Division (SPD) of a Department of Defense (DoD) client. SPD’s mission is to deliver expert consultation and real property services to meet the evolving needs of the DoD and Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), primarily within the Capital Region (NCR).
The selected candidate will support a diverse portfolio of office alteration, reconfiguration, and space acquisition projects. The Project Manager will play a critical role in driving project delivery from concept through post-occupancy, ensuring alignment with mission requirements, codes, and standards. This is a highly collaborative role requiring interaction with customers, design teams, security and IT stakeholders, and fellow project managers.
Essential Job Functions
- Space Planning & Design: Develop and review space layouts, furniture plans, and infrastructure needs. Collaborate with design teams, engineers, and CAD staff to deliver functional, efficient solutions that meet mission goals.
- Project Management: Lead multiple concurrent projects of varying size and complexity. Oversee scheduling, budget tracking, and milestone reporting. Maintain detailed project files and ensure timely execution.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a key liaison between OSD customers and internal/external stakeholders including AWG, ECD, SCD, DISA (IT), and PFPA (Security).
- Scope & Documentation Development: Draft and manage project Statements of Objectives (SOO) and Statements of Work (SOW). Develop concept designs and support infrastructure planning for IT, security, and MEP systems.
- Design & Code Compliance: Evaluate designs for code compliance, functionality, and constructability. Coordinate with engineering and standards teams to ensure alignment with Pentagon design and construction requirements.
- Post-Occupancy Evaluation: Conduct reviews after project completion to assess effectiveness of design solutions and identify improvements for future initiatives.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, science or mathematics and twenty (20) years work experience required to the job description with ten (10) years construction/space planning project management experience OR education may be substituted with an ACTIVE General Contractor/Construction Trades license and 30+ years of construction experience
- Must be a U.S. .
- Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust clearance (HSPD-12 fingerprint background check).
- Proven experience managing commercial or institutional real property projects with an emphasis on space planning, interior alterations, or federal facility modernization
- Proficiency with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, RSMeans, MS Office)
- Fully on-site in Arlington, VA

- Pentagon Washington Headquarters Services experience
- Professional Engineer registration, PMP, or CCM
- Familiarity with federal real property acquisition (GSA/USACE), government standards, and coordination of security/IT/facility systems
