Job Summary:

The Solar Quality Lead supports the Solar Quality Team to ensure project quality standards, project specifications, and client requirements. This role provides guidance to Quality Inspectors, assists with field inspections and documentation, coordinates reporting with owner representatives, and ensures consistent implementation of QA/QC processes across projects. The Solar Quality Lead also develops training materials, creates inspection schedules, and supports continuous improvement of quality procedures and team performance.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Pre-Construction

  • Review and maintain updated project site plans, golden row benchmark, manuals and specification documents to ensure inspection accuracy.
  • Develop and refine task-specific inspection procedures and training materials for the Quality Inspectors.
  • Coordinate with project leadership to align pre-construction quality expectations and inspection readiness.
  • Validate pre-construction documentation and inspection templates before field deployment.

Communication

  • Maintain clear, professional, and consistent communication with all team members, project managers, field teams, and owner representatives.
  • Provide regular updates on inspection progress, quality trends, and corrective actions.
  • Present inspection metrics and quality observations during project meetings.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare and distribute accurate and presentable daily plans and end-of-day reports to necessary parties.
  • Inspect and ensure quality of work performed over multiple scopes including, but not limited to: PV Piles, Electrical Piles, PCS Foundation, Racking, Torque Tubes, BHA, Slew Drive, MIB, Damper, SPC, Grounding/Bonding, Module, Wire Management, DC – Disconnect/Combiner Box – Mechanical, DC Grounding, CAB, BLA, PCS – Mechanical, SCADA Rack, J-Box – Mechanical, Agg Road Cap, CMP, Low Water Crossings, Fence, and Grounding.
  • Utilize software for quality inspections, turnover documentation, and data collection.
  • Update observation and inspection completion trackers daily.

  • Conduct administrative and scheduling duties for the Quality Inspectors.
  • Maintain certifications including, but not limited to: OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR/AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, NFPA 70E, Hazard Communication, and LOTO Affected.

Requirements:

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in construction management, logistics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in solar, electrical, or construction quality inspection
  • Experience leading a team, including giving direction and providing feedback
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, blueprints, and other technical documents
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, inspection checklists, and construction documentation as well as solar project components and installation methods
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, vendor management, and leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational, project management, prioritization, and inventory management skills
  • Proficiency with equipment tracking and maintenance software

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

This position is on site, often in remote or rural areas. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.

  • Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and working on elevated structures or within confined areas
  • Requires extensive walking (2-10 miles per day)
  • Regular exposure to construction-related hazards such as moving equipment, uneven terrain, noise, and electrical components
  • Subject to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, rain, and dust
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility vest, and steel-toed boots must be worn as required
  • Travel up to 100% with regular travel between project sites
