Job Description
Solar PV Service Engineer – Coventry \n\n VIQU Energy are supporting a leading renewable energy organisation in their search for a Solar PV Service Engineer to join their growing operations and maintenance team. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a field-based environment, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to contribute directly to the performance of large-scale solar assets across the UK.\n \n This position offers a mix of routine maintenance, technical fault-finding, travel to multiple sites.\n \n Key Responsibilities\n \nConduct routine maintenance, testing, and remedial work on deployed solar PV systems. \nComplete all work in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
\nPerform Preventative Maintenance in line with the annual PPM schedule. \nCarry out Corrective Maintenance as and when required. \nSubmit accurate daily activity reports using the online reporting system.
\nUndertake job-specific risk assessments and report all near-misses to management. \nSupervise and coordinate third-party contractors on site. \nEnsure external contractors adhere to all H&S requirements.
\nMaintain precise electrical testing records suitable for audit. \nFault-find and resolve issues across AC and DC systems. \nEscalate any issues or concerns to the manager promptly.
\nComply with all applicable fire, health, and safety requirements, including attending required training. \nOccasional nights away when required. \nParticipate in weekend rota (with additional pay).
\n Skills & Experience Required\n \nLevel 3 City & Guilds / NVQ in Electrical Installations. \nC&G 2382-18. \nC&G 2391-52 or equivalent.
\nHV AP qualification. \nHarness trained (desirable – training can be provided). \nFirst Aid trained.
\nFire Marshal certification. \nIOSH H&S qualification (desirable – training can be provided). \nManufacturer training on central inverters.
\nStrong understanding of maintenance procedures and maintenance scheduling. \nKnowledge of AC and DC systems (AC distribution boards, combiner boxes, automation panels, etc.). \nUnderstanding of CCTV and SCADA systems.
\nCompetent working with HV systems (33kV), including switching and maintenance. \nExperienced using instruments such as multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, etc. \nMinimum 3 years’ experience in Solar PV O&M (ground mount).
