The Solar Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the site maintenance program to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role directs the work of solar technicians and contractors, administers maintenance functions in alignment with Operations and Maintenance (O&M) agreements and programs, and ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The position emphasizes preventive and predictive maintenance, quality control, employee training, and effective management of plant assets.Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise solar technicians and contractors to achieve business objectives and ensure compliance with O&M requirements.
- Oversee the site maintenance program using industry best practices, focusing on planning, scheduling, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
- Manage enterprise asset management systems, ensuring accurate integration and use at the site.
- Monitor spare parts, maintenance supplies, equipment, and tools, and coordinate reordering as needed.
- Collaborate with the Real-Time Desk to monitor plant operations, minimize downtime, troubleshoot issues, and identify process improvements.
- Ensure timely completion of technician documentation, including outage reports, equipment logs, and safety/environmental inspections.
- Provide clear communication with management, site personnel, and stakeholders through reports, presentations, and team meetings.
- Lead and direct maintenance activities for both onsite and remote personnel, including contractors.
- Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders in coordination with the Operations Center.
- Support budget development and manage site maintenance expenses.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman certification/qualifications, with 6–8 years of relevant experience (minimum 2 years as Lead Technician and/or Project Manager ).
- Strong knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and system problems, repair instruments/control devices, and install specialized instruments.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to supervise teams and contractors effectively.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems and other computer applications.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with experience preparing reports, procedures, and presentations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours and willingness to travel as required.
