The Solar Apprentice is responsible for the installation of electrical wiring and components on solar arrays.
Tasks / Duties / Responsibilities
- Assist with Solar Panel Installation
- Help prepare and carry materials to job sites.
- Secure and position solar panels on roofs mounts.
- Assist in wiring panels, inverters, and other system components.
- Set Up and Maintain Work Areas
- Unload and organize tools, equipment, and materials.
- Keep work areas clean and safe throughout the job.
- Learn Electrical and Mechanical Components
- Support electrical connections under supervision.
- Help install conduit, wiring, and other electrical systems.
- Perform Site Prep and Safety Measures
- Use fall protection and adhere to safety protocols.
- Assist with site clean-up at the end of each day.
- Handle Tools and Equipment
- Operate basic tools like drills, saws, and torque wrenches.
- Help maintain tools and report any issues.
- Support Testing and Troubleshooting
- Help test panels and wiring to ensure proper functionality.
- Identify and report issues to journeymen or supervisors.
- Learn Solar System Design and Components
- Understand basic system layouts and diagrams.
- Assist in identifying parts like inverters, batteries, and mounts.
- Follow Instructions
- Work under the supervision of experienced electricians or installers.
- Follow daily tasks and project plans.
- Maintain Safety Standards
- Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols.
- Wear appropriate PPE and maintain awareness of surroundings.

- Participate in on-the-job training and classroom learning.
- Ask questions and show a willingness to learn and improve.
- Time and Task Management
- Show up on time and prepared for work.
- Available and willing to work off hours or extra hours as the project and/or other projects requires
- Assist in completing tasks efficiently to meet project timelines.
- Travel Out of Town
- Be available and prepared to travel for out-of-town projects as needed. (Working Monday-Thursday 1.5 hours to 4.5 hours from the shop)
- Represent the company professionally while working on remote job sites.
- Team Collaboration
- Work well with the installation team, electricians, and supervisors.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with team members.
- Basic Quality Control
- Assist in inspecting work for accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
- Report any mistakes or concerns to the lead installer.

- Capable of clearly understanding and following directions/instructions

Education, Experience, and/or Certification Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License & reliable transportation
