Rural Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a detail‑oriented Quality Engineer to ensure our technology solutions and system enhancements meet high standards for quality, reliability, and performance. In this role, you’ll lead testing activities across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), partnering closely with Development, Business Analysis, and Product teams to detect issues early, reduce risk, and deliver outstanding user experiences.
This is a remote role for a Wisconsin .

Compensation:
$85,000 - $95,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
- Execute manual and automated tests: create test cases, run tests, log defects, document evidence, and validate fixes.
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot issues, and report defects with clear prioritization and resolution tracking.
- Review requirements and designs with BA, PM, and Dev teams to identify gaps, risks, and test considerations early in the SDLC.
- Contribute across the full SDLC, from initial requirements through deployment and post-production support.
- Investigate, reproduce, and retest reported defects; collaborate closely with Development and Production Support.
- Serve as the QA point of contact for assigned projects; proactively communicate risks and quality concerns.
- Provide transparent status updates on test progress, coverage, risks, and recommendations for process improvements.
- Design and execute regression test strategies; maintain and update regression suites across environments.
- Monitor and analyze testing outcomes to identify trends, patterns, and improvement opportunities.
- Define risk‑based test strategies and plans for new and existing features based on complexity and business impact.
- Establish and promote automation best practices (test data mgmt., environment setup, test design).
- Develop and maintain scalable automated test suites covering functionality, performance, and user experience.
- Stay current on emerging QA tools and methods; incorporate improvements into our QA approach.
- Mentor other Quality Engineers; review work and promote automation/testing best practices.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of progressive QA/Quality Engineering experience on complex or enterprise systems.
- 2–3+ years designing, building, and maintaining test automation solutions.
- Demonstrated experience supporting testing across the SDLC in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- Strong knowledge of manual and automated testing methodologies and quality engineering practices.
- Hands‑on experience with Selenium, Playwright, or similar automation frameworks.
- Working knowledge of C# and/or Java for test automation.
- Ability to write basic SQL queries and understanding of relational database concepts.
- Experience using Azure DevOps (or similar ALM tools) for work tracking, CI/CD integration, and test mgmt.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills; able to convey results, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Proven ability to mentor teammates, especially in automation practices; strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Experience with AI‑driven or low‑code automation tools (e.g., TestIM).
- Background in insurance or financial services.
