We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager for a long-standing client in the financial services industry. I'm looking for someone who’s as passionate about building brilliant teams as they are about building great technology.

In this role, you’ll lead a talented product engineering team, guiding them to deliver solutions that are reliable, secure, and beautifully designed. You’ll be the bridge between vision and delivery, translating strategy into software that really makes a difference.

This isn’t just about technical delivery; it’s about people, purpose, and progress. You’ll coach and mentor 5 engineers to help them grow, champion best practice, and create a culture that’s curious, collaborative, and commercially smart.

You’ll partner closely with product, design, and third-party suppliers to solve complex technical challenges, reduce technical debt, and deliver engineering excellence at pace. From shaping architectural discussions to embedding automation and quality standards, your leadership will make sure the team builds with scalability, performance, and security in mind.

You’ll also play a key role in improving how they work, driving initiatives that make our systems more resilient, our processes more efficient, and our teams more empowered.
Above all, you’ll help us build technology that serves customers better, manages risk responsibly, and meets our business goals with innovation and integrity at its core.

What you’ll bring
You’re a hands-on leader with deep technical roots and a real passion for people. You know how to get the best from engineers and how to guide them through complex projects in a way that’s inspiring, structured, and sustainable.

You’ll likely have:

  • Experience leading engineering teams, ideally within financial services or a regulated environment.
  • \n

  • A strong grasp of cloud- systems, modern SDLC, CI/CD, and software design.
  • \n

  • Experience across software, data, quality, and platform engineering disciplines.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of Finova or Apprivo 2 is a real advantage.
  • \n

  • A collaborative approach to risk and compliance, balancing innovation with control.
  • \n

  • A genuine interest in new technologies, automation, and ways to make teams work smarter.
  • \n

  • You don’t just manage you mentor, inspire, and bring out the best in others. You understand that great engineering is about people as much as it is about code.

There are 4 offices across the UK and whatever one is closest will be your hub although as your team will likely be distributed expect some travel. It is best for this role to be based out of Manchester or London but Hampshire is also available. You will be required in the office 2 days per week.
