Software Engineering Manager
Job Description
Company Overview
Flux Computing designs and manufactures optical processors to train and run inference on large AI models. Join us in London to be part of a highly motivated and skilled team that thrives on delivering impact and innovation at speed.
The Role
We’re searching for world-class engineering managers to lead a multi-disciplinary team of 5~10 engineers to push the boundaries of what’s possible each month in a high paced environment. This role blends people management, technical leadership, and project management. Your tight-knit squad of talented engineers are highly motivated to solve high-impact business objectives at light speed, and have fun while doing so. Excellence isn’t just expected, it’s rewarded.
Responsibilities
- Own Outcomes: You independently hold yourself accountable to delivering against strategic business objectives. Your ownership doesn’t end until you’ve solved the problem.
- Flux Speed: Every second counts. You create an environment of high performance and fast delivery where deadlines aren’t missed. You set clear objectives, remove blockers, and enable rapid, high-quality releases.
- Hyper Focused and Vector Aligned: ‘Good’ work in the wrong direction is not valuable. You partner closely with other leaders to understand how you can maximise the impact your teams can deliver together.
- Insist on the Highest Standards: You set and champion high standards for yourself and your team, driving excellence across technology, people, and processes.
- Dive Deep: You relentlessly build in-depth knowledge and insight, so you can understand the true root cause of problems. You stay connected to the details while providing enough autonomy to the team to move quickly and have their own wins.
- Champion Culture: You truly believe in and champion the Flux culture. Culture is the secret ingredient and force multiplier behind every great success story.
Skills & Experience
- Leadership experience. In previous roles, you’ve supported a team of 5–10 individual contributors to operate at their highest potential.
- System Expertise: You’ve architected, deployed, and monitored large-scale ML training and inference infrastructures - spanning from data-center cluster orchestration down to on-chip firmware - and can translate requirements across software, hardware, and firmware layers to ensure robust, high-performance accelerator operations in production.
- Strong technical proficiency. You have extensive experience in several of the following areas: quantisation techniques, low-latency inference, profiling compute pipelines, memory hierarchy, software-hardware interaction, and system programming.
- Communication skills. You have excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts and trade-offs across all levels of the organisation and to cross-functional stakeholders.
- A proven track record. You know how to focus on customer and business outcomes, delivering impactful products through close collaboration with partners.
Compensation & Benefits
- Highly competitive salary ranging from £167,000-£204,000, depending on experience.
- Generous stock options in a rapidly growing AI company.
- Based in our new 5,000 sq. ft. office in the AI hub of Kings Cross, London.
- To foster collaboration in our high-growth environment, we require all employees to work from our London HQ and live within a 45-minute commute. We offer an extra £24,000/year incentive for those living within 20 minutes.
- Comprehensive healthcare insurance.
- 25 days PTO policy plus bank holidays.
- Private access to our in-house 3D printer.
