Job Description
The Western Digital System Integration Test Lab, located in Rochester, MN, is seeking a Software Engineering Co-Op to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in OOP software development concepts and an interest in hardware, automation, scripting, and storage device validation testing. The team builds internal software tools and automation to assist with system integration (hardware) testing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, implement, document, and validate test automation framework improvements, test scripts, and bug fixes (software)
- Configure and debug enterprise servers, including storage device installation, OS setup, and network configuration
- Engage with technical experts (hardware) and test engineers to understand requirements and restrictions
- Participate in feature demonstrations to internal users and management
Please note that this position is in-person (5 days/week) and is based in Rochester, Minnesota. A relocation benefit will be provided to eligible candidates for this role.
This is a co-op position and will last up to 8 months (January-August) based on individual university calendars.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related major. The ideal candidate will graduate in 2027.
- Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case to employ you at any point in the future required (for example, H-1B or other employment-based immigration case)
- Experience utilizing object-oriented design concepts in projects
SKILLS
- Familiarity with Linux-based systems via command line
- Passion for problem-solving and learning new things
- Solid communication skills
