Overview

Summary: The primary focus for this position is to ensure that the client complies with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety programs, compliance plans, and initiatives.
  • Supports the team in the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Supervises and directs safety technicians when assigned.
  • Performs the role of investigative lead in complex investigation of incidents, near misses, and property damage incidents. Provides root cause analysis by examining evidence gathered from conducting in-depth victim, casualty and witness interviews, and photographic evidence. Ensure follow-up is done to minimize future exposure and ensures proper records/documents are maintained.
  • Conduct, coordinate, and track various training to support company programs.
  • Conduct routine safety observations to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, company environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Conduct daily site visits unless weather stops work for the day.
  • Conduct written Site Audits and/or Job Behavior Observations at a frequency dictated by management and/or client.
  • Issue safety citations, good/bad, once per week minimum.
  • Keep safety credentials current.
  • Represent the client during OSHA inspections.
  • Assist in all training endeavors of the workforce by provide training / lectures to outside agencies including fire departments at least once per year (as requested).
  • Keep abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
  • Perform collateral duty assignments such as environmental, Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO), and special topics as assigned.
  • Participates in EHS site audits, inspections, and routine surveys including the developing and drafting of audit documentation.
  • Coordinates with others for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently and effectively.
  • May respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate health / safety/ security concerns.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes as they apply to all aspects of construction and construction equipment and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate environmental health and safety related risks.
  • Knowledge of power mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Have dependable and reliable transportation for travel.
  • Ability to travel extended periods of time.
  • Education / Experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Professional Certification/License (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
    • Authorized OSHA 500
    • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Skills/Abilities

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: The environmental conditions for this job range from indoor activity to inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, wind, and various forms of precipitation. The widest variance of noise is also encountered.

  • Ability to walk and perform site inspections 70% of the day.
  • Lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, and walking significant distances.
  • Visual ability (20/20 corrected or uncorrected) to observe and detect signs of danger.
