Compensation Range: $50/hr - $55/hr (conversion up to ~$118K) Job Description:
Support and improve the reliability, availability, and security of a cloud- platform powering rec.gov . This role focuses on operating and automating AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, improving CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring systems remain compliant within regulated environments such as FedRAMP and PCI.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Owns reliability, availability, and continuous improvement of AWS-based, containerized platforms using Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Builds and maintains automation for deployments, testing, monitoring, and releases to improve speed and reduce risk.
- Troubleshoots and resolves complex issues across cloud services and tooling, with hands-on engineering responsibility.
- Operates within security and compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, SOC2) while improving scalability and efficiency.
Requirements: Must-Haves:
- Experience supporting DevOps or DevSecOps processes and tooling
- Experience with Kubernetes administration and application deployment
- Experience developing and securing cloud- solutions in AWS
- Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code using AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming fundamentals
- Experience supporting platforms compliant with FedRAMP, PCI DSS, SOC2, or HITRUST
- Recent hands-on-keyboard engineering experience within the last two years
- Experience automating tasks of varying complexity
- Experience using AI tooling to accelerate or streamline tasks
- Bachelor's degree
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with AWS CDK
- Experience with TypeScript
- Experience with AWS logging and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Organizations)
- Experience with AWS security services (GuardDuty, Macie, Inspector, Detective)
- Experience operating in government-regulated environments with an ATO
- Scripting experience with Python and Bash
- Experience using Amazon Q
