As the go-to leader on-site, you’ll be the face of IPM to our clients and the anchor of our internal teams. You’ll oversee complex field machining projects, ensuring they’re executed with precision, safety, and efficiency. From planning and mobilization to execution and teardown, you’ll own every phase of the project lifecycle.

This is more than a management role—it’s an opportunity to shape outcomes, build relationships, and elevate performance.

Requirements:

What You’ll Do:

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Serve as the single point of contact for clients and internal teams.
  • Lead on-site operations, guiding shift leads and technicians through every step.
  • Drive accountability for critical milestones and ensure alignment across stakeholders.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage change orders, scope adjustments, and resource allocation with agility.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that boost efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Maintain equipment readiness and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Client & Team Collaboration

  • Facilitate clear, proactive communication between clients and IPM departments.
  • Support quoting and estimating efforts for new work and change orders.
  • Partner with sales to grow IPM’s presence and uncover new opportunities.

Technical Expertise & Mentorship

  • Train and coach field machinists on best practices and equipment usage.
  • Troubleshoot challenges and solve problems with a hands-on, solutions-first mindset.
  • Ensure documentation, inspection plans, and reporting are accurate and timely.

What You Bring:

  • 7–10 years of hands-on experience in field machining or related industries.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex, multi-phase projects.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Ability to read technical documents and communicate professionally.
  • Comfortable with geometry, trigonometry, and practical math applications.

Qualifications:

  • IPM Level III Field Machinist status.
  • Journeyman certification or 2-year technical degree.
  • Experience with budgeting, costing, and performance metrics.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this role, you’ll need to:

  • Frequently talk and listen
  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle tools and equipment
  • Frequently climb ladders and stairs
  • Frequently stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch
  • Frequently lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently operate portable hand power tools (e.g., angle grinder, drill, power hammer)
  • Undergo respirator fit testing and usage as needed
  • Use specific vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment

Work Environment:

You’ll work in dynamic environments that may include:

  • Forklift traffic, overhead cranes, machining, welding, and airborne particles
  • Moderate noise levels and moving mechanical parts
  • Indoor shop settings and customer sites (both indoor and outdoor)
  • Occasional exposure to hot, cold, or inclement weather

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Ability to gain clearance for nuclear power facilities
  • Valid driver’s license (required)
  • Completion of IPM Overhead Crane and Forklift Training (required)
  • Willingness to travel up to 60%
  • Ability to use mobile apps for time tracking, travel, and expense reporting
