Job Title: Site Manager – Substation Project (Renewable Energy - Civils)\nLocation: Edinburgh, UK\nContract Type: Full-time\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead delivery of a major substation construction project within the renewable energy sector in Edinburgh. This is a key position overseeing day-to-day site operations, ensuring safety, quality, and programme performance while coordinating multiple contractors and stakeholders.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Manage all on-site activities for the substation project, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.\n\n * \n\n Lead site inductions, daily briefings, and toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture.\n\n * \n\n Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, suppliers, plant, and materials.\n\n * \n\n Monitor progress against programme and report regularly to the Project Manager.\n\n * \n\n Ensure all works comply with CDM regulations, client standards, and industry best practice.\n\n * \n\n Maintain accurate site documentation, including permits, inspections, RAMS reviews, and progress records.\n\n * \n\n Liaise closely with engineering, commissioning, and environmental teams.\n\n * \n\n Resolve site issues proactively to minimise downtime.\n\n * \n\n Ensure quality control and adherence to technical drawings and specifications.\n\n * \n\n Represent the project during site audits and client visits.\n\nSkills & Experience\n\n * \n\n Proven experience as a Site Manager on substation, HV, or large-scale infrastructure projects.\n\n * \n\n Background in civil engineering on renewable energy, power transmission, or grid-connect projects.\n\n * \n\n Strong knowledge of HV systems, civils, and electrical installation practices.\n\n * \n\n Demonstrable understanding of HSE legislation and CDM requirements.\n\n * \n\n Excellent communication, leadership, and contractor management skills.\n\n * \n\n Ability to interpret technical drawings and manage quality standards.\n\n * \n\n SMSTS/SSSTS, First Aid, and relevant safety certifications.\n\nWhat We Offer\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary and benefits package.\n\n * \n\n Opportunity to contribute to a major renewable energy infrastructure project.\n\n * \n\n Supportive team environment and opportunities for long-term career progression.\n\n * \n\n The chance to make a positive impact in the UK’s transition to clean energy
