Site Manager

BCS Connect are working with a Highways Maintenance client who are seeking a site manager for their project in Telford.



It will initially be a period of 6 months, but that is likely to be extended and could turn permanent for the right individual. They are looking to integrate someone on-site in the next couple of weeks.



They are looking for a Site Manager to take charge of drainage construction projects. This person will manage both the day-to-day work on site and the up-front planning, production of RAMS etc. You will also be tasked with the delivery of the scheme on site, making sure the job is done safely, on time, within budget, and to the right quality. The role involves working with teams on the ground, subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers to deliver a wide variety of drainage related works.



They will be an expectation to visit site on the odd night shift. However, principally this is a daytime role working out of their office in Telford.



Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Planning and Organising

Plan the daily work for the site team based on project drawings, scoping documents and timelines.

Make sure materials, machinery, and workers are available when needed.

Engagement of Sub-contractors

Production of H&S documentation

Approval of Sub-contractor documentation

Set out clear daily and weekly goals for the site teams

2. Site Supervision

Make sure the team is working according to the plans and specifications.

Deal with any issues or delays that come up on site.

3. Health and Safety

Production of H&S documentation

Approval of Sub-contractor documentation

Work closely with our in-house HSEQ team

4. Quality Control

Ensure that the work meets required standards and fix any quality problems.

5. Budget and Materials

Keep track of how much is being spent and report back to the project manager.

Order materials and make sure nothing is wasted.

6. Communication

Work closely with other team members, clients, and subcontractors.

Attend site meetings and provide updates on progress.

Make sure everyone on the project is informed and working together.



Skills and Qualifications:

A qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).

Experience managing drainage or utility projects.

Good understanding of drainage systems and installation methods.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Knowledge of health and safety rules and site regulations (e.g., CSCS card, SMSTS or SSSTS).

Able to read technical drawings and use basic software like MS Office.
