Shredder Maintenance Supervisor - Metals Recycling - Base Salary to 120k/year - Portland, OR

• Our client, a large Metals Recycler, is seeking a Shredder Maintenance Supervisor to directly oversee the maintenance of the shredder and communication with the Shredder Operations Manager regarding all repair and maintenance issues. This role will also monitor daily duties assigned to the equipment operators, pickers and cleaners within the department.
• In this role, the Shredder Maintenance Supervisor should possess knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance, as well as knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe work environment & strictly adhere to all metals recycling business health, safety and environmental issues
• Oversee schedules, job assignments, and activities in order to run efficiently with minimal overtime
• Direct the day-to-day maintenance of the shredder and equipment to meet production schedules and to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations
• Provide orderly maintenance of shredding equipment, to avoid downtime & equipment failure
• Recommend replacement of equipment & request spare parts to be ordered, and tracks parts used for repair
• Adhere to and/or perform repairs as cost effectively as possible to avoid downtime and equipment breakdowns
• Reduce Accident Frequency & Enforce Strong Safety Culture
• Provide guidance to department employees on multiple shifts.
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
• Hire, Train, Develop & Discipline Employees

Qualifications:

• 3+ Years of Heavy Industrial/Manufacturing Work Experience
• Previous Experience as Supervisor or Manager
• Strong Mechanical Aptitude & Maintenance Background
• Experience working in a Unionized Environment
• MUST have experience working on Shredders or Crushers - changing hammers, liners, & knowledge of Hydraulic equipment & systems

Compensation: For this role includes a base salary up to 120k/year, plus an annual bonus, and relocation assistance if needed. Our client also offers competitive benefits and 401k with a company match.
