As a Shop Welder, you will be at the forefront of crafting the steel skeleton that forms the backbone of our climbing structures. Collaborating with our design and fabrication teams, you will transform raw materials into solid, precision-welded components that guarantee safety, durability, and aesthetic appeal.

Some Travel Required to assist with wall installation projects across the U.S.

Primary and Essential Functions

  • Read plans and design drawings to fabricate metal using techniques such as welding, shearing, and sawing;
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), general directions, quality-control programs and safety requirements for all production operations;
  • Handles tools of various types including heavy machinery;
  • Examine completed work for defects, and measure pieces with straightedges and templates to ensure conformance with specifications; report nonconforming material to Shop Foreman for quality assurance;
  • Load and unload materials;
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures;
  • Report all unsafe activities to manager;
  • Use lean concepts for individual tasks;
  • General labor work (e.g. Sweep, clean up job site, run errands, use hammer and saw, demolition, etc.)
  • Keep a clean, organized working environment and assist in maintaining machinery and tools;
  • Additional duties may be assigned in various functions of Vertical Solutions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-2 years MIG & Arc welding experience;
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Possess physical strength to operate heavy and power-driven equipment;
  • Communicate progress and arising problems with team leaders/project foreman;
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and production standards;
  • Wear company provided safety equipment IE (harness, hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses);
  • Ability to use and read measuring tape;
  • Reliable, shows up to shift on time each day;
  • Proactive, self-starter, positive attitude;
  • Well-developed time management skills with the ability to manage multiple
  • priorities;
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment;
  • Ability to work and participate effectively in a team environment;
  • Valid driver license;
  • Forklift certified ;
  • OSHA 10 or 30 ;
  • Welding certification ;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand on your feet the majority of the day;
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.;
  • Stooping and bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist;
  • Regularly works at heights (scissor lifts, boom lifts);
  • Potential exposure to hazardous chemical materials;
  • Noise level is typical of that found in a manufacturing environment;
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions.
  • Regular and repetitive use of hands to handle, feel and operate machinery;
  • Crouching, kneeling, twisting, reaching, climbing, pushing and pulling;
  • The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways;
  • Potential exposure to weather and environmental conditions.
