Role - Ship Engineering Consultant

Duration- 6 months

About the Role

You will be responsible for Liason on various retrofit activities on shipping project for a customer in HAM – between physical changes on the ship structure and the team in India which will be responsible for implementing the changes in drawings. You will be assisted by another Indian focal point in Germany - who will be working with you

The activities planned involve update of various data sets(Drawings, excels etc) .

The person should have a good overview of designing, analyzing, and detailing ship structures, systems, and outfitting. The role involves working knowledge through the full design lifecycle (from basic / concept design through detailed design) understand modifications and its impacts, ensuring compliance with classification society rules and statutory regulations, coordinating with other engineering disciplines and production as needed.


Key Skills needed

  • Understand retrofitting requirements and implement required modifications within applicable standard.
  • Understanding of basic and detailed designs of structural framing, decks, bulkheads, outfitting, and systems (piping, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
  • Ensure designs meet classification society rules, maritime statutory regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Manage interfaces with other disciplines (e.g. outfitting, stability, propulsion, electrical, etc.).
  • Coordinate reviews and approvals
  • resolving design queries, reviewing vendor drawings, and impact
  • Ability to converse in German and English is a must
