Shift Team Leader

Doncaster, South Yorkshire - Shift-Based Role (Days, Nights, Weekends & Bank Holidays)

At Fidra Energy, we're building and operating the infrastructure that will enable a cleaner, more flexible and more resilient energy system. As we continue to expand our operational capability, we're looking for a number of experienced Shift Team Leaders to join our Thorpe Marsh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) site.  

This is a critical operational leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation of one of the UK's largest battery storage facilities. You'll lead a small team of technicians, oversee real-time plant operations, ensure compliance with safety and grid requirements, and act as the site's responsible person during your shift.  

What you'll be doing:

• Lead and supervise shift personnel to support safe and efficient site operations
• Act as the responsible person in charge of the site during assigned shifts
• Monitoring performance through SCADA and site control systems
• Coordinate real-time operations in line with grid requirements and dispatch instructions
• Support safe systems of work, permit-to-work activity, isolations and risk assessments
• Driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with site safety rules
• Lead shift briefings, handovers, toolbox talks and initial incident response
• Work with operations, engineering, performance and maintenance teams to optimise availability and reliability.

What we're looking for:

• Leadership or supervisory experience within a shift-based operational environment
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, safe systems of work and control room discipline
• Experience using SCADA or industrial control systems
• Ability to make clear decisions under pressure and manage operational incidents.
• Relevant technical qualification (Electrical Engineering, HNC/HND or equivalent)
• Experience within power generation, utilities, energy storage, heavy industry or similar sectors
• AP/SAP status, or capability to work towards authorisation
• A safety-first mindset with excellent decision-making and communication skills 

The position will offer:

• Competitive basic salary + shift allowance
• Bonus scheme – based on personal objectives(25%) and company scorecard (75%)
• Pension Scheme – EE 5% ER 10% for first 2 yrs then can increase, max company will pay is 15%
• Flex Fund of £2,160 pa, paid monthly into salary (£180)
• Life Assurance – x 8 of basic salary
• Group Income Protection - 50% of basic annual salary for up to 5 yrs
